About Rovaniemi Guide

Rovaniemi Guide is an independent travel guide to Rovaniemi and Finnish Lapland, published in eight languages. We are not a tour operator, we do not run any activities, and we are not affiliated with Visit Rovaniemi, the City of Rovaniemi, Santa Claus Village or SantaPark.

Who writes this guide

Aino Lehtola

Lapland expert, editorial team

Aino lives in Finnish Lapland and knows the Arctic winter from everyday life: darkness, frost, snow and the reindeer and husky farms around Rovaniemi. She writes about everything that matters on the ground — weather, clothing, animals, northern lights, travelling with children — and checks that our advice works in a real winter.

Markus Brandt

Travel & prices editor

Markus is a travel editor. He compares tours, prices, hotels and ways to get to Lapland, reads booking conditions and reviews, and checks what is really included in an offer before we recommend it.

Prices, opening times and conditions are re-checked before and during every winter season.

How we work

  • Sources: official information from the attractions and the regional tourist board, published conditions from operators, public listings and verified reviews on GetYourGuide, hotel information and travellers’ feedback.
  • Prices: where an attraction publishes prices, we quote them with the season. Otherwise we give ranges, because tour and hotel prices change with dates and demand. The price on the booking page always prevails.
  • Updates: prices, opening times and cancellation conditions are re-checked before and during each winter season. Every guide shows its update date.
  • Honesty: we say when something is not worth it — a two-night trip in mid-December, a short demo ride sold as a safari, an igloo with a city light glow.

How the site is funded

When you book through our links to GetYourGuide or (via our partner Stay22) to Booking.com and other accommodation sites, we receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes the price and never decides which experiences we recommend.

Languages

The guide is published in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Dutch. Each version is written for travellers from those countries — currency, flights and the questions they actually ask.
